My journey of holistic companion care took flight when my canine companion Zachary was diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus at the age of 11. I wanted to do the best I could and instinctively I knew that traditional care wasn't going to be enough.
So...I started reading and reading and continued reading! I started walking him a mile a day immediately. After a few months of research, I started my pack on a home-cooked diet. With continued research and a year later, I started them on a raw diet.
With a combination of herbal infusions, supplements and colloidal silver, I was blessed to help my Zachary live much longer and healthier than most dogs diagnosed with diabetes. He lived four years, to the ripe old age of 15, as a vibrant and happy companion in spite of the diabetes and later diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma.
